What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Join Judaism uses cookies to keep you logged in, track your daily free-tier usage, and (with your consent) understand how visitors use the site via Google Analytics 4.

Cookies we set

CookiePurpose
access_allStores whether you have paid access to the platform. Set after magic link verification. HttpOnly — not readable by JavaScript.
access_sinceStores the ISO date when your access was granted. Used to calculate your access expiry date shown in your dashboard.
access_newSet immediately after first login to trigger a welcome banner. Expires automatically after 60 seconds.
quiz_countTracks how many quiz questions you have answered today (free tier limit). Resets daily based on quiz_date.
quiz_dateStores the current date for daily quiz limit tracking. When the date changes, quiz_count resets.
hebrew_countTracks how many Hebrew reading sessions you have completed today (free tier limit).
hebrew_dateStores the current date for daily Hebrew reading limit tracking.
_ga, _ga_*Google Analytics 4 cookies for anonymized usage analytics. Only set if you accept analytics cookies.

Analytics cookies (optional)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with the site. GA4 data is anonymized — we have IP anonymization enabled and do not pass any personally identifiable information to Google. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them via the cookie consent banner.

How to opt out or delete cookies

You can manage or delete cookies at any time:

  • Browser settings:all major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. Refer to your browser's help pages for instructions.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Note: disabling strictly necessary cookies (authentication cookies) will prevent you from logging in to your dashboard.
